Ever wish you knew exactly how to raise happy, healthy, successful kiddos?
Well, that’s my mission.
I believe in a whole-istic approach to motherhood, combining the science and research with the heart of a mama, ultimately finding more joy, intention, and confidence in parenting, which we know yields happier, healthier, thriving kiddos.
The stakes are high, and parents deserve simple, accurate information to support their children – realistic tips that make a difference.
My mission began a decade ago, as an optimistic teacher, heartbroken and outraged how schools were ignoring sound research on child development, reading instruction, and neuroscience.
I learned how deficits in their early childhood years impacted all areas of their future: academic, social, emotional, health, and cognitive struggles that could have been avoided. In the United States, 1 in 2 children have at least one diagnosed chronic condition. That’s not okay.
I’ve seen how poor nutrition and environmental toxins directly impacted behavior and learning. As a reading specialist, I’ve worked with hundreds of struggling readers who battled academic difficulties and emotional turmoil until they became skilled readers. The worst part? There truly isn’t enough intervention available to children who are struggling. Some schools don’t even have reading specialists, counselors, or nurses!
As a mother, I feel more called to this work than ever before. I love to read and research, but geez it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all of the (mis)information, clever marketing, and constant pressure that we’re doing too little or too much.
It doesn’t have to be this confusing.
Sunnyseed is my effort to get to the ROOT of the problem and take a proactive approach so we can drastically improve our nation’s literacy and health - because children deserve better.
We can honor childhood, nurture their bodies and brains, and prioritize play without pulling our hair out.
My goal is to simplify the research so you leave this space feeling empowered and confident.
